My eldest finished up primary today, so it has been a bit of an emotional day, seeing them sing their goodbye song and get their awards.
Just flicking through the year book that they've made where they have a page each saying who their friends are/what was their funniest/saddest memory, their likes and dislikes and favourite tv programmes etc.
It has one bit where they say where they see themsleves in 15 years time and in amongst the usual mix of race car drivers, footballers, hairdressers etc one boy has written "I would like to be a good guy and have a job" :o(
Yes tenrec - really looking forward to it - sitting here with his school shirt covered in messages and signatures!!
marval - i'd employ him myself if i could - poor lad doesn't really have much prospects and he is only 12. Doesn't come from a great background but his dad works and they have done a great job in bringing up a nice lad. It would be nice to see him with a bit more of an ambition for himself :o(
My youngest is leaving primary school in July, they'll have a leavers mass where the kids will sing and do a bit of entertainment, then they'll have a slide show of pictures of them whilst a really fitting song is sung about goodbyes, God, I'm blubbing already just thinking about it.
I went to their last assembly this morning and they sang "Never Forget" the TakeThat song and Without You (is it David Guetta?) with some of their own words about moving on - it was pretty emotional. There were a few tears shed (mostly their young male teacher's)!!
It's awful isn't it annie, another little journey of their life over, I really don't cope very well with it. Himself says I need to have a word with myself!
yes rocky and we have to do it all again next year for no 2 son!!
tony - he had decided on a nice hardback copy of The Hobbit that he was going to write a message in until we realised that as the teacher is not very big, he might see it as an insult! Soo by that point we were down to only the supermarket being open so he chose:
A set of 4 bottles of european beers in a box (for the football)
A "best teacher" mug
some David Beckham toiletries
and a bar of chocolate!!
He also wrote a lovely card saying how he appreciated his help and support and how he'd really enjoyed P7 and how he was going to continue to work hard and make him proud.......and wishing him luck for having his little brother in his class next year!!! I thought that was a nice touch!!
It was actually a nice thought....if the teacher had been taller!!!
My son loved the Hobbit and thought it would be nice to give him a copy that he could read to his classes in the future.
annie, you must be a proud mum, what a lovely gesture from your son.
I, too, went through one year after another. The song, 7 years have gone so fast' (or along those lines anyway) came out the year the older son left primary. Took me the whole of the summer months not to blub when it was played on the radio etc.
And proud? Yes I am, I am proud of both my boys every single day - and I probably dont tell them that enough. No 2 son chose a bottle of Jubilee bubbly for his teacher who was only here for the year and is now looking for a new job. he wrote a lovely card saying how he'd enjoyed her being his teacher and wishing her well.
yes tony i'm impressed. He is quite hairy too but never seen him with his shoes off. He apparently has really curly hair but always uses straighteners - most of the boys think this is hilarious (but a bet a few get their own set soon!)
