Everyone else gets a turn after they've had their share! I've found that sunflower seed hearts go down really well, but they do like the nyjer seeds just as much (as does our resident wood pigeon, Chris, as my daughter named him) Recently, I've also had a pair of siskins and a bullfinch at the sunflower seeds.
I had my feeder in place for at least 2 weeks before a single finch visited ... the RSPB confirm that it takes a while for the birds to familirise themselves with a new feeder's location. Now, some months later, I've had to add a further two feeders to the site because of the large numbers of goldfinch and greenfinch that visit!
