Has your dog ever eaten something it really shouldn't have?

I stupidly didn't realise I'd left my handbag in the living room when we went out earlier. When we came back, the pup had chewed a bit of my diary (fair enough - my fault), but I looked by his bed and there was an empty packet of nurofen. I knew there were 2 left, I found one in his bed so I'm pretty sure he must have eaten the other one.
We phoned the vet straight away who said to give him plenty to eat and just laughed about it and said he should be fine.
I can't stop feeling guilty but I've got to keep telling myself that at least it wasn't a full packet of tablets or a huge bar of chocolate.
Has your dog ever eaten something bad and was s/he ok afterwards?

Our first dog (when I was 16) was a bull-mastiff/GSD cross.

One day my brother and I found him lying at the top of the stairs panting heavily and looking spaced out. My (irresponsible) mother said that he would be okay and he was just tired.

It turned out that he had destroyed her asthma inhaler and got a lung of whatever is in the canister. He was okay after a few hours.

My aunts greedy lab stole & ate 5 frozen lamb chops and a loaf of bread!!!

My friends lab regurgitated an age 5-6 pair of boys pants x

I once came home in the wee small hours from visiting a 'man friend'. I made the mistake of leaving my bag downstairs and got up later to discover my dog had eaten my suspender belt. When I was a baby, my parents' dog managed to lock himself in the bathroom and eat an entire packet of contraceptive pills. The vet warned my mum he might be a bit moody for a while, but apparently he was fine ;-)

Our dog once ate an entire 3 months worth of birth control pills. She turned out fine.

My greyhound used to steal egg shells and eat them - made me heave.
Once had to assist the exit of a Pepperami wrapper he had eaten :0(

im laughing my head off at the chillis.
Our black lab has a thing for nappys and the amount of poop i have cleaned up with nappy in it is untrue!! Hes a sod!!
Luck our spaniel has eaten chicken bones today so waiting to see what effect it has,shes fine at the mo just waiting to see what happens!!
They are both at something now in the garden, there terrors!!

I have a very large black Labrador , he is not so much a dog as a 4 leg food disposal system.
I know chocolate is bad for dogs but if you read the actual amounts necessary to cause a possibility of a bad effect it is HUGE . My Labrador weighs nearly 30 Kgs , he would need to eat at least 2 Kg of solid chocolate in less than hour for there even to be a small possibility of a bad effect. He eats chicken carcasses whole and never a hint of a problem. He has managed to eat the large bone from a cows hind leg in its entirety inside a week , the bone was nearly as big as him when he first got it. Normal dog chews are dispatched within a few minutes . He can totally destroy a full size leather football in less than 1/2 an hour. Tennis balls take around 30 seconds he can eat them and sh!t them out the next day no problem.

I do not remember the name of the tablets but my dog eat some tablets for a water infection. The vet said give him plenty to eat and drink.
He was OK.

Mine found dark chocolate (70%). Washing soda moistened into balls did the trick and the kitchen floor was covered in dark brown vomit.

Coco would eat anything except mushrooms! I made hundreds of icing sugar flowers for my daughters wedding cake and left them on the table to dry, we went out for 10 minutes and she'd eaten the lot when we got home. This morning I made 2 circles of meringue for a pavlova, I came in from the garden and she'd eaten one and was walking round with the sticky paper stuck to her foot!

LOL eeeee i'd love to have secret camera on some of your dogs!! My Poppy once ate a full box of after eight mints, hells bells never seen as much sh!te in my life, she will still eat anything you leave laying about and if you leave ya handbag on the floor with anything in it she will scoff it!!she's 12 now but still tears tissues up out of the bins little sod!!

My friends dog was left in the car with a, ermm, 'herbal' cake.

That was fun to watch, a paranoid rottweiller.........

doesn't care that his mouth is bleeding when he is chewing through tins of tuna etc.

the worst time despite having bad back legs he managed to climb eight feet and devour chicken bones which people say can kill dogs.
