I have 2 cats. Sons ankles were covered in bites, which looked to me like flea bites. So as one of cats likes his bedroom to sleep in(a box not son's bed!) I hoovered all his room, sprayed flea spray everywhere, and did both cats with Frontline. Also sprayed rest of house with flea spray. Son didnt get any bites for a coupld of days but is now covered all over lower legs, and 2 on torso. They are driving him totally mad. It has to be fleas, cant see what else it could be. ( have thoroughly checked for bed bugs and mattress is clean).
So can I try the cats with Frontline again even though I only did them 2 weeks ago?

Any other suggestions much appreciated!! Poor sons legs look awful.

Smowball - I have exactly the same issue as you. My little girl's legs look awful and I now insist she wear socks to her knees in the house which is going down really well with this hot weather!
So far I've front lined them, but unfortunately allowed them back in the house straight away so I assume most of the fleas jumped off to join the other fleas hatching in the carpets. Last weekend I spent a bomb on flea powders for the house, and I've been hoovering hoovering hoovering ever since. Still got fleas. Now I've read the answers in this thread I'm not getting frontline again but will go for the other thing, and also I've got some killer flea spray on order from my vets coming on Saturday. I'll keep you posted!

well midges hadnt occured to me actually, so am going to assune its both midges and fleas just n case!
hope it comes under control soon, its not nice! madams having benadryl most days to stop her itching!
It`s probably fleas as they go for the ankles. They jump up from the carpet. Midges will bite anywhere.
Could be fleas, but it could also be gnat bites. There are loads of the blighters around at the mo because of all the damp, mild weatther - they thrive on it. Bitten every time we go out walking the dog.

Son said lastnight that when he us watching tv in his room in the eve with the light on he can see " little flying things in front of the screen", so I guess its midges then?
simple - advocate/advantage flea spray.....flea spray house and hoover every other day in all nooks and crannies (especially where puss likes to sit/sleep) for at least a fortnight. and do not use frontline, it's absolutely useless!
you need to pull up the carpets where they meet the skirting and spray the bottom of the skirting board where the juvenile fleas may be lurking, you may have missed some eggs.

Was just going to post a update - we were out for the day yesterday and bites actually came up on his arms right in front of my eyes - so it has to be midges/gnats . Though how to stop it I dont know - but his legs look horrednous.
he needs antihystomine for one thing then some insect repellent.
