I'm staying in Brazil for a couple of months and whilst out walking the other day, I came across the creature... I took a photo, but can anyone shed any light as to what it is?!

It looks a bit like a spider, but only appears to have 6 legs. So, maybe it's something else, perhaps.

@callisto

Thanks! I am getting in to photography since getting kitted out with a Canon Digital SLR at Crimbo! If you want, you can visit my website (the first part of the URL posted in the question) and see some more photos! I think, though, that that is my best pic to date! I think I'll have to print it and take it along to the local zoo... !

@CT

I did notice that, but it still looks kinda spidery! And are there any other animals that live in webs? Unless this beast came along and ate the spider?! LOL ... perhaps he lost the other 2 in the fight? Maybe..?!

Definitely a spider with 2 missing back legs -poor chap.
How did any of you manage to look at it long enough to know it had 2 legs missing?
Scared me almost witless.
Co-incidentally, there is something in my bathroom right now that looks spider-ish but only has six legs. It has a very small round body but can't offer any more identifying features as I didn't want to get too close.
