Spider Repellant?

If u hate gnats u can get insect repellant that will keep them away from u. Ants - there are "ant traps" that kill them and "ant pens" that stop them from going over the line u draw.

But wot about spiders? Is there no way to keep them out of ur house/room? Or do I just not know about it? Any suggestions? I hate em!!!

Apparently...........if you put a horse chestnut (conker) in the corner of each room it keeps spiders out!

If you could have seen me last night - I walked into the bedroom half asleep & there was the most gigantic black spider sitting on our beige carpet, next to our bed! My husband (who loves spiders - the bigger the better) was snoring away downstairs, so I had to get a glass from the bathroom, run & jump onto the bed, lay flat, lean over the end to put the glass over it. Heart beating like mad, I had to find a flat book to slide under it, then turn it back up & throw it out of the window.

I then layed in bed, having visions of it crawling up the wall & back into the bedroom to get me!

So Gooner_Badge,  I shall be sorting out my nature collection later & will put some conkers in each corner of the bedroom for tonight - thank you!

Good job your carpet is beige, smudge - just imagine if it were dark!

I know you can get paint which repells spiders and other insects. I used to be petrified of spiders, I still don't like them but no loger go ballistic when I see one - anyway my husband had an old cottage up in Le Touquet and that was FULL of spiders. He used this paint and no kidding, it worked!

don't those plug in insect repellant thingummies work on spiders?  I'm sure they do.  Our next door neighbour is terrified of pretty much any insect.  They bought a couple of these plug in things and two are enough to keep the entire house insect free.  They send out some sort of sonic sound wave or similar (sorry, I've no idea how they actually work), but are safe for all pets etc. They're not cheap (30 quid a pair rings a bell) but my neighbours swears they're worth every penny.

there is a spider (and gnat and  fly) repellant spray that lasts 6 weeks once sprayed- ask at a feed merchant or horsey shop

I would have woken my husband up - probably with a loud scream - and he would have removed it.
What if you had missed and it ran up your arm?
I can't go near them at all.

we bought the electric repeller from tv shopping channel. they do work for spiders and lots of other creepy crawlies but ours gives off a really annoying sound that we are not supposed to hear. but they do work.

The only spiders I remove from the house are the black widows.  They are quite common in New Mexico and we found quite a few in our house. Are there any poisonous spiders in the UK?

A huge spider ran out from underneath my pillow the other day *shudders*. I hate it when you have seen one and you keep getting a tickling feeling on your leg/arm etc and thinking it's a spider! When I had long hair I once mistook it for a spider lying on my neck and went crazy!

smudge - I couldn't do what you did I am absolutely terrified of them - which is another good reason why I left England.  Here we have poisonous green and yellow striped ones which bite, but they are only ever in the garden - never in the house.  I even bring my own electric repellent to England in August when I come over.  I didn't think you had them until Autumn

I really don't know how I managed to remove the big black hairy spider either! It was either that, or sit up all night wondering where it was hiding!!

I hate spiders too...none of this keep them in your house stuff...get em out!!
