Boarding kennels between St Abbs & Edinburgh
12 Answers
Can anyone recommend reputable kennels that would take care of my big, friendly dog for the odd day? I'm not looking for overnight stays - I'd just like to drop him off in the morning and pick him up later the same day.

There's a boarding kennel just outside Cockburnspath just off the A1 my brother used it the last time the entire family went away but I can't for the life of me remember it's name. However there is one at Longniddry which is nearer Edinburgh than St. Abb's near the coast called Limekiln Boarding kennels they have a website www.limekilnkennels.com. Hope this helps
Myreside Boarding Kennels have excellent reviews:

Thank you so much everyone. I'm very grateful. Wouldn't like to leave 'him' with anyone who wouldn't care for him properly.
Wolf, we spend time in the area (Northumberland/Scottish borders) every autumn - love it. We go there mainly for scuba diving - not me, my husband - I'm a warm water (think Caribbean/Red Sea) only girl - but this is the first time we are taking 'the boy'. Many thanks.

Wolf, I have two 'rats' - as my husband calls them - Lhasa Apsos - and my big boy is an 'Oodle' - cross collie/poodle - a Coloodle - a big soppy, hairy monster - but his mummy loves him! We like the Caribbean and the Red Sea, and we have a house abroad, so I do get some sun - sometimes. I love the north of England though - and Scotland - despite the weather - and the midges! :o)
He sounds lovely - like an Irish wolfhound/lurcher - I miss having a dog but I will just have to put up with the sabertooth tigers.
Do you take the mutt's abroad? I am not sure if I like the idea of doing this - but then I am an eternal pessimist and find travelling down to visit little brother in Nottingham too overwhelming to contemplate.

We intended to get an Irish Woofhound, but were advised against it because of the little dogs - and so we ended up with 'him'. They all have passports, but as yet we haven't taken them abroad - and truthfully, I don't suppose we ever will. We do trail them in the car all over the UK though - no problem. I wouldn't be at all concerned about taking them from Scotland to Nottingham. Go for it!
Woofhound is good!
I am being advised (by my avatar) that it is bed time. I do an afternoon shift in our local Oxfam shop on a Friday and will have to get up at a reasonable time for a change so maybe he has a point.
Enjoy your break - little brother and his wife + my three favourite little humans are coming to visit next week. I believe that they intend to camp - my SIL is allergic to cats and I am allergic to housework.
