Cat Deterrent

I intend to re-make my front garden which is quite small, get rid of the grass which is a nuisance to cut, and have roses and bark over the whole ground. We have put a fence across to stop access, and have roses down the path as well, so it will be quite enclosed. However - I just know that the local cats are going to come prowling around, leaving souvenirs for us. Does anyone have a tried and tested method of keeping the cats away from using the bark as a toilet?

Thought of the water pistol, but we cannot spend all day, and night, looking out the window waiting!

so is dog poo!!! People that let their dogs roam because owners can't be
bothered or don't pick up poo. I had to clear some from my lawn on
Wednesday..then today I noticed my neighbour has a pile on hers too.

You can get lion poo stuff (which is not smelly to humans) which scares the lesser felines off.

I am compiling a list of deterrents, and will make an almighty pile of anything and everything to use which would keep the blighters away.

I'd be fuming if ever i had dog poo on my lawn, that would really make me mad.
No dogs round here are ever off their lead that i know of.

A good dog will keep the cats away, failing that, at the risk of upsetting the cat lovers, a .410 will do the job .
