Horrendous. Where have they learned this kind of behaviour? The sight of a tiny helpless kitten would surely bring out a need to protect, not to inflict indescribable pain, in a normal person. Thanks to the woman who intervened these particular animals are now safe.

but seriously I think it's because there's so much violence, and we have given youngsters TOO much freedom and control.

The attitudes will not change just worsen I cant understand people having babies bring life into this world...
Unfortunately there have always been gangs of boys who can do this sort of thing. It used to be not uncommon to find boys tying rip-raps and other fireworks to cat's tails around bonfire night. They said it was because we were the generation brought up during the war, mostly having no fathers to discipline us.

William Golding's classic, "The Lord of the Flies" was a superb account of this mob cruelty.
