I have new neighbours, a lovely couple who have been here for about 7months. Unfortunately their little boy is petrified of cats even more unfortunately for them our previous neighbour took great delight in feeding all of the cats in our road.
I explained this to her when she moved in and offered to buy her a water pistol to make said cats disappear.mine included.

Today is a beautiful end of the summer here in Essex I am sitting in the garden enjoying a dinky poo when I hear her mother(grandma), not her, tell the two year old, who is doing his usual freak out, to go and get some stones and they will get rid of the cat.
Now Ginge, said beast is dozing in the flower bed....

Question..... What would you have said/done.

Lol... I have five hounds and just the two cats, but our ginger ninja kitty rules the roost (most days). That said he is the most loving boy you could wish for, it just made me so sad/mad to think someone would hurt him on purpose.
So pleased you managed to sort things out with your neighbours.

my grandaughter is only 10 months but already adores my two cats, i encourage her to stroke them carefully and have managed to sure her quiteearly on of trying to rip their ears off or bash them over the head with a rattle, it is just a matter of training, the cats, gawd luv em, seem oblivious to past attempts to mutilate or concuss them and they all get along fine now.

I would go round to see the neighbours and explain that you have had the cat for a long time and that a water pistol will do the trick and not hurt the cat. Buy one yourself and give it to the neighbours - I am sure the two year old would love to use it instead of throwing stones which is absolutely a no no.
