Help with fruitflies

[Yahama]

Have any of you got a tried and tested method for killing fruitflies and also stopping their return? I've been plagued with them for quite a while now and it's really getting me down as you can't leave any food out and have started to find them alive in my fridge and in the microwave crawling on food which i then had to throw away.

Please any ideas would be appreciated.
