A friend buried her dead cat in her garden. The next morning she found that a fox had dug it up and eaten it.

But you see, this is what scavengers do, and this is why you bury dead things deep and put a rock on top. The scavenger is only doing what the scavenger god put them on earth to do, ie eat up spare meat. Dig it twice as deep next time and put a house brick in the last six inches of backfill.

To be fair to Robert. Not every post on here is a question. I posted one a few days ago and it wasn't a question either, yet I didn't get lambasted.

am sorry this happened robert but all of us 'in the know' are aware that a body has to be buried very deeply to avoid such an occurance. I've just buried a pet really, really deeply (dug the grave then went down another foot!) placed the body in a sealed cardboard box and covered the filled in site with a large piece of hardboard weighed down with heavy pot plants - this will stay in situ for the winter then be removed.

When i buried Tom in my other garden i had to dig down through that deep snow we had 2 years ago and then i put a huge stone planter over the top, where Bingo is buried he is 4 feet down and well covered, he's not been disturbed.

When I was a kid, a farmer I knew buried a sheep that died (rumour had it someone had been throwing yew leaves over the hedge and the sheep ate them). He didn`t bury the sheep deep enough and for about a week afterwards, someone`s Collie dog used to go and eat the corpse. I saw it licking it`s lips one time when I was going home for dinner and it put me off my food for a week. Revolting.
