We are in France at the moment for 5 days. The weather is awful, torrential rain and now its thundering and lightening very near and very loud and we are sitting in a metal box!!
Apparently it has been raining for days and there is a lot of flooding. There is a river just the other side of a wall in the campside, owner thinks the wall will hold back the water hopefully.
Went out for a meal earlier tonight not good at all. Ordered large beer for himself and small one for me, only brought his to the table. When I eventually caught her eye and asked where mine was she made out I hadn't ordered anything.
We ordered pate for starters, she only brought OH's, When I again eventually caught her eye it was the same response, I didn't think you ordered anything.
He ordered steak - tough, I ordered duck breast both with chips, you don't get veg in France, mine tasted ok, could have been warmer, ate one half of it, the rest was uncooked, absolutely raw. When waitress came to see if we had enjoyed the meal I said it was uncooked, she had the nerve to ask if I wanted the chef to cook the last bit for me! Needless to say we didn't leave a tip!
do they not have McDonald's in france, I think they will cos there was one in Cancun , at least there there is a consistent level of standard, hopefully! is it cold as well as wet and stormy? hope it improves for you.
actually the last time i was in paris the french waiter was very rude, he insisted my friend paid for a meal she never had. we were only 17 though and our first time abroard (on way to barcelona via paris) and so we paid, always annoyed me though.
If you don't like your duck rare you need to tell them when you order. I am with you on this, and have lost count of the times I have forced it down because I forgot to tell them.
I told her I wanted it medium, how do you only cook one half of a duck breast though.
Cupid you have a good memory, will not get caught out on the gin again, already bought 4 bottles to take home at 7.7 euros a bottle.
Not surprised the weather is bad. Calais is only 26 miles from Dover; 213 miles London to Paris.
It's over 400 miles London to Edinburgh (both as the crow flies)
