Hi, we live off a secluded forest and today whilst on a hike back from the hills we stumbled on a giant birds typed nest around a small potholing cave entrance, roughly a metre across

Around the entrance were sheep bones, shredded clothing and other skeletal remains of various animals.

We've had a few sheep go missing from here and heard that it was possibly a wolf but to my knowledge wolves can't build nests so this has left me and my husband baffled.

We were going to alert either the police or the the next towns newspaper but think we may be acting a little to hasty without enough facts to give them.

Does anyone know what kind of animal this could possibly belong to?

Boxtops, we have much footage but due to the sensitive nature as this could be an unknown hybrid or a new species nothing can be released to the public and unfortunately that is all i can legally say at the moment but fingers crossed this could be big, very very big.

I'd keep an eye on the international news if i were you and i'll be releasing information as i get it and am okayed to release it.
Local Government Officials, on a Sunday morning, wow!
The fact that there's photographic evidence available knocks my theory into a cocked hat. I had thought it might have been a midden rather than a nest.
People are being made homeless because of the cuts imposed by the heartless EU. Perhaps a indigent family have made the cave their home. If they're really poor they might even have resorted to cannibalism which would explain the tattered clothes and bones strewn around.
Keep us informed.
Why would the discovery of a new species have to be legally protected? Do you intend to copyright the animal?

Science doesn't have a rest day baldric especially for the taxonimists and other various biological scientists we have flying in from Switzerland this afternoon.
Is it a hybrid of a bull and a shih tzu?
A Minotaur?
I think I have the pictures - what a scoop for AB:

I have to go out and meet some of the local zoologists to fill them in so i'll see you later hopefully with some exciting new information. (red tape permitting)
I can't wait......
can you wait until 1st April, 'tis a cracking thread?
Dogmother, even if red tape keeps you from disclosing more we'll always be grateful for your sharing with us. The truth is out there, but there's a conspiracy to keep the ordinary people like us in the dark.
So why have you posted this on AB, asking our opinion? Sounds like Smell of Largeus Rattus to me.
Local Government now doing science, and on a Sunday as well!

great scoop SD, well done!
yes balders, and they'll be using one of these to trap it
