I just had to take Black Spot to the vet urgently, he had a fight last week and overnight an abscess burst on his forehead.... so he needed urgent treatment before the holiday, which he's got, so all is well.
However, the lovely vet said to me, "we're running a bit late.." and it seems that there was someone in her consulting room having a much-loved pet put down. I didn't see them, it was all very kindly handled - but I felt so much for them, particularly on Christmas Eve, and I must admit there was a tear in my eye as I drove Black Spot home....
Rainbow Bridge was waiting for that particular pet (see, I'm filling up again now..)
I wish all your pets good health over Christmas, they are so precious to us.
That is very sad Boxy. Having gone through that 2 weeks ago I know exactly how they will be feeling. I have little Bluey but I'm still missing Tigger. Blue's been missing her as well. She hardly ever jumped up on me when Tigger was around but now she does it all the time.
Aw tiggs... I know what you mean, when one of my twin cats died (seventeen years ago now, crumbs) the other one came right out of his shell and became much more cuddly. They know ♥
When I took my dog to the vet some time ago there was an elderly lady with her daughter. The dog couldn't stand on it's back legs. When the receptionist called the lady she cried and said " I can't do it". I was in tears too.
So so sad when our pets come to the end of their days. Especially hard when they are perhaps your only companion.
Took Blue to the vet last week for a check up on her liver problem and the vet said she'd lost weight but otherwise healthy. I still have to give her a Denamarin tablet everyday.
So sad ..I feel a lump in my throat as I read it . I have my daughters mad staffie here today .He is so lovable and I love him to bits as if he were my own . I would be devastated if anything happened to him. I wish all your pets a safe xmas. As you say they are precious to us.
I think of my two stupid moggies as people that I like who happen to be in a little furry body. Granted some times you want to throttle them but I would miss them very much if they weren't here.
Every time I get really depressed and can't cope I think that they would be happier with a new owner but we struggle along and they are my family.
No time is " right" but christmas is harder , our dog had his eye removed due to glaucoma , thankfully hes still here with us of which i am grateful for , november was a terrible month for me
So sad when this happens at any time but especially at Christmas as a pet is as much a part of the family as the human members. This is the first time in eleven years we've not had a four legged waste disposal unit and it just doesn't seem the same.
I was invited to my daughters for Christmas but knew it would be a bit hectic with the grankids and visitors so for the sake of my pooch who is on heart meds, decided to postpone that visit for another time.
We will go to my other daughters where it is quiter and my pooch will come with me.
Would hate to lose her through stress for the sake of one day.
That day will come soon enough. Dreading it.
Yes,it's so sad at this time of year but indeed at any time, one of my cats has some form of dementia,he's mostly ok but when he starts meowing for no reason it's upsetting.I too wish all our pets a happy and healthy time.
Its five years tomorrow since my first Heeler bitch died on Christmas night. Very sad, but it was a peaceful end and she was almost sixteen. Her daughter is seventeen and a quarter, and still going strong.
My heart goes out to all the people who have lost a pet recently.
We have a leonberger dog, Bella who is 2 and we love her to bits.
We had a black labrador, Boomer for 14 years before Bella. It took us 4 years before we got another dog. Boomer died on my birthday, so every year I remember him on my special day. Love to all xxx
