Asking guests to take shoes off

I want to find a nice way to ask all my guests to take off their shoes. Right now I just have a pile of shoes at the door and I answer it in my socks. Most of my guest see the shoes and socks and take theirs off no questions. Others will ask if they need to take off their shoes. I tell them yes. But alot of people end up walking in and I have to stop them and say "oh we dont wear shoes in the house" i want a way to get shoes off before they come inside
