You get these palm spiders in the Seychelles

Normally they hang in webs between palm trees but this gives you some scale

You get similar size ones in Zanzibar. They splay their legs between telephone wires. Thankfully, I never noticed until we were on our way to the airport to go home. They were ENORMOUS.

that sounds terribly misleading, jake - so in real life it's only the size of a dinner plate and runs at 25mph while making screaming noises?

In real life it's about 6 inches and although fast not *that* fast and is silent - it's not actually a spiter either!
