just got a kitten and he uses his litter tray but he also likes to use a particular rug, any suggestions how to stop him? . is there a spray or anything i can use?

Use biological washing powder to clean up (this removes the odour and prevents them returning to repeat the performance!).  You could also try moving the litter tray to the spot and then over the course of a few days move it gradually back to where you want it to be, the cat should hopefully follow it!
