I would be terribly upset if it was my dog. Even if the salon person was confused she must have thought that shaving a GSD was just not a normal thing to do. Wonder if she shaves long haired lady cats with a violent streak!

I think this is a story that happened earlier this year. The groomer kept the shaved off coat and there was a pic on facebook, the coat was filthy and matted.
To say that I'd have been angry would be an under statement. We normally did all the washing and grooming ourselves but a couple of times a year we'd treat him to a professional job with the lady who does my sisters poodle. She was a bit reluctant at first as she wasn't used to big hairy GSDs but she studied a few pictures asked around and eventually did him and returned Max to us looking absolutely magnicent. She now has has quite a reputation locally for doing "Big and Hairy"
Dead annoyed. But don't get why the coat, both the under and top layer, wouldn't grow back to what it should be.
By the sounds of it the groomer did the poor dog a favour!
If the coat was in poor condition the groomer did the right thing. It will grow again soon enough.
if its the story i remember from FB, Naomi, "poor condition" would be quite an understatement.
I have just had nini. the cockapoo shaved off to the skin, Groomer did say she would look awful, When I picked her up she looked like a rat with a fluffy tail, Looks are not everything, She is so much more happier and cool, I hate seeing dogs so hot and uncomfortable, If that poor dog had fleas and sores the groomer did a fab job, I think the owner wanted publicity.
