I have seen "pooper" bins for domestic use. You dig a hole in the garden, insert bin and dispose of waste. I believe some chemicals are added.
Have I imagined this or can anyone advise where to buy?
Many thanks

No you haven't imagined them, we had one once, never got round to using it though!
I have tried this three times and it DOES NOT WORK. You end up with a stinking hole in the garden surrounded by flies.
Or maybe not, having just read Woofgang's reply.
seriously, we got one did everything as they advised and it didn't work. We then had the garden remodelled and the bit we had it in became patio so we filled the hole in, bought another one because the one we had installed was so disgusting we just had to get rid of it. We re-sited the new one, carefully made the soakaway around it and under it and that one didn't work either. We then moved, so before putting the house on the market, we removed the dogloo (that's what they were called), filled in the hole and made everything neat. Once we had moved, we decided to give to one last try as it really did sound as though it should work and guess what? that one didn't work either. honestly don't bother.
I used to keep a bucket in the garden with a plastic bag in as a liner. I used to scoop the poop into nappy bags and then when needed take it to the park which was only around the corner and disposed of it in the doggy bins there.

Sadly my Labrador has now passed but towards the end of his life he could only get as far as the garden and the trip to the park became a daily event for me.

Just done the daily scoop, no-way would I go for one of those bins,
with our two it would have to be the size of a dustbin!

Appreciate the info....don´t think I will bother. Nappy bags are a good idea though....means I can dispose via our recycling system.
thanks for taking the time to respond
A couple of years ago i rang our local council to complain that there was no dog waste bin anywhere near us, and everybody uses our road to cut through to get to the fields, about a month later a dog bin appeared on the wall about 20 feet from my gate.
My collections go straight in there.
Very thoughtful the council sometimes. :-)
I also use a bucket with a carrier bag in it, then transfer this when full to an empty dog food sack, which is then put in the wheelie bin (under a black bin bag to disguise it lol). Realised one day that the food bags sometimes have my name and address on if I order them online!
My husband did that lankeela last week and then found maggots in the bottom of the bin when it was empted. Yuck.!! Needless to say I made him clean it out.!
Should have chucked them out for the birds - they would love them!
If it's in the garden then why not scoop it up with a plastic scoop (or garden trowel or whatever) & then flush it down the household toilet - far less polluting than all the plastic bags being used.

Oh and Woofie is right - the Dog Bogs are vile/useless.
sunny I didnt think you could do that.?
Being in a wheelchair with an assistance dog she has a special toilet area and I have two of these DogLoos buried on the edge of her area so it's easy to clear up. As long as you keep them 'flushed' with the hose regularly and put the chemicals in when you have too they both work fine. The trick is to make sure that where you bury them it's full of decent sized stones and rocks and that the surrounding soil is easily drained. Mine is and apart from if the water freezes I use them both... Paul
as an addition:::: They are called DogLoo from Armitage and you can buy them from Amazon, eBay, B&Q etc also I buy the chemical on eBay as it works out cheaper.
Paul, I a glad yours work. I did all that you suggest and mine didn't
Sounds a great idea for cat owners (probably dog owners too). Means, after pet training, they would get to deal with their own pet's waste rather than have them dump on their neighbours and not even have to think about it.
I used to think people trained their dogs to poop into them ! I am not a doggy person and completely ignorant to that world as you can see but....wouldn't want one festering in mine !
Before the advent of the flush toilet people used 'earth closets'. Each time the earth closet (wooden box) was used a layer of earth was sprinkled over the faeces and the lid closed. The earth kept down odours, prevented access to flies and supplied bacteria which processed the faeces. I can't see why it wouldn't work in a garden. Alternatively bury the buggers if you have a suitable garden.
