I have a pigeon in my back garden with a broken wing been here now for 3 months do their wings mend or is it doomed to never fly again does anyone know thank you

For a bird's wing to mend, it has to be splinted fairly soon after the break occurs. I doubt your pigeon will ever fly again, and it will depend on you for food and water. (And protection from cats!).

after all this time the break is set - it won't fly again - it needs to either go to a bird sanctuary or you could give it an aviary for protection.

Im surprised a fox or cat hasn't caught it and devoured the poor thing already !

With endangered or valuable birds, the bones can be pinned. I doubt whether the RSPCA will fork out that much dosh for a common pigeon though.

It all depend where the break is, but often the bone will not heal, or knit at an funny angle, making flying impossible.

I did have one of my pigeon hit a wire and break the 'elbow' joint. These injuries are notorious for not mending satisfactory. This one however seem to have grown a calcified 'knobble' over the joint and could eventually fly slowly at a funny angle. This bird lived for a long time.

May I suggest you contact a local wildlife rescue/sanctuary as opposed to the RSPCA. As wildwood says, it is highly unlikely the RSPCA will be of any help whereas a local charity will be more likely to be able to offer a place in an aviary.
