We have owned several rabbits over the years and only one of them had problems with his teeth (back) and had to go to the vets regularly (every 2/3 months) to have them filed down, but this wasn't without problems as he needed an anaesthetic each time and rabbits don't do anaesthetics well. However, he survived several of these procedures and lived to be six, but didn't survive the last one and I lost him. Sorry, don't know anything about squirrels. teeth.
OMG Do rabbits really visit the dentist?

How the heck would squirrels teeth know to grow when rabbits visit the dentist? Puzzled and confused is me.
I don't know if a squirrels teeth grow as fast but they can most certainly over grow if they are misaligned.
I used to have a Degu with misaligned teeth and had to trim them myself with a pair of nail clippers [was cheaper than taking him to the vet].

Our rabbits teeth grew out at the bottom and back in and up towards roof of mouth so had to trim once every 4 weeks easy to do yourself with clippers because teeth are not that strong and rabbit did not seem to mind ,better than being knocked out.Cant help with squirrel.
vinc0001 - I had no choice but to take him the vets to be 'knocked out'!! It was his back teeth that kept growing too much and it was impossible for me to get at them, nor could the vet without 'knocking' him out - is that OK with you ???????
