In reply to your earlier question to which i had no answer, has now been discussed at the Club with the "locals."
" What benefits are available to a non working wife with a child whose husband suddenly dies in Spain?"
If the husband hasn't made 2 years contributions of tax to the state, then she gets nothing.
Provided that he has worked for more than 2 years and has contributed through his taxes, then she will get a percentage worked out on the basis of how much he has paid into the state system.
If this isn't sufficient for her to live on, then she will have to go out to work to provide for herself and the child which might include, selling the house, paying off the mortgage and living off the equity if there is any.
In extreme circumstances and they must be extreme, there is a charitable organisation that MAY help out.
That is it BOO in a nutshell.
