Morning All !

Started the day with a Hamlet cigar. Do you need to be bald to smoke those, or have I forgotten the ads?
Decided to be organised today. Booked online to see John Bishop at Wembley Arena on November 29th, a Saturday, which is close. Got the confirmation. The 29th, a Saturday, is next year. Well, I can wait. Have done it before; once arrived at the Hotel Bristol, Geneva, on the right date, only to be told I was a year early. Still, the bandleader, Max Jaffa, once turned up with his full orchestra in tow, only to find that his concert was not due until 12 months later, so I am not alone (and nor was he).
Now a bit worried about the other bookings I just made: Cruft's, Gatwick parking, hotel and flights, Hertz car. There could be disasters in store.
Clear outside. Dogs not awake yet. Rats are; I can here one running under the floor ready to emerge in the yard, but the dogs aren't awake, so it'll survive a few hours more.
Have a good day, all !

I've decided to stop trying to sleep and get up and print out some stuff for my trip to Todmorden today, marriage certificates etc to help locate various farms and churches, which I know will be easy to find but it helps to have the back up document.
I can hear something outside, think it's bats.
I quite like John Bishop when he's not trying too hard.

Oh dear , I can't, svejk. I am not that sort of racing man. Piggott is and was. I remember being on the gallops early one morning to watch a friend's Guineas colt. Piggott ignored her, a newcomer, but said to me "Morning, Mr Puli",which would have made sense but for the fact I don't think he asked, and got, a ride off me more than once, and that was years before. And he was retired at the time. Extraordinary. But round here we date events by races; people say " The year Petite Fleur won the Oaks (1,000 Guineas ? I'm not much good at it)..." or "The year Airborne won the Derby" as though everybody knows the mean 1961 or 1948 (or whatever it was).
But good apprentices get noticed, whatever their personal defects. Michael Stoute once turned to me, as a complete aside to nobody in particular, and said "I'd like that boy in my yard!", halfway through a race. That claimer became champion jockey in due course, and Stoute did have him in his yard.

DJH, of course I can sleep , but not this morning, when I have feel very lively; I shall doze off, certainly, around 5pm !
Airborne won the Derby in 1946 and Petite Etoile, not 'Fleur', which was a hit tune around the time, won the Oaks and the Guineas in 1959. I am sure you all wanted to know that !

Morning Boaty. I was walking through town yesterday and in Carphone Warehouse there was a young teenage girl, sat on a chair, crying her heart out, surrounded by cops one of whom was writing in his note-book. Love her. I guess she was caught shoplifting but I didn't stop and press my nose to the glass so I don't actually know.
