cod liver oil for dogs

does anyone know if human cod liver oil capsules are suitable for dogs? I ran out of the dog ones the other day and gave my dog some of mine, and he was sick later, not sure if that was why

Human ones are fine, but remember not to give cod liver oil more than 2-3 times a week max, as it can be toxic in high doses.
