I can watch nature programmes if animals are killed in a natural way, i.e. Lion killing wilderbeast, etc. What I cannot bear is hearing or seeing anything about any cruelty or horrible accidents to animals. I am tougher than I used to be because I have volunteered in an animal rescue home and have seen some sad cases.
I do enjoy the chats with all the nature and animal lovers in this section and feel I have made some good online friends!
Bless you darlings for your kind words :-)
This is without doubt the first port of call. There is just so much to learn from everyone and it's an absolute joy being with like-minded people, although some poster's do make you wonder what planet they inhabit.
I did something really dreadful yesterday and feel so ashamed .....No, I can't tell you..
Ok girls, are you sitting comfortably.....? I warn you it's a sorry tale.
A couple of days ago I walked into the living room, glanced up at the ceiling and saw a large thing waving even larger antennae at me. All of a sudden it jumped down on the carpet in front of me (you surely must have heard my screams!) making me run out of the room. Peering round the door I spied the thing back on the ceiling again. (more screams) There was no choiceso I emptied half a can of fly killer on my tormentor. It was still alive hours later when hubby came home who picked it up and put it on the windowsill for identification. I had tried to murder an Oak Bush-cricket! I apologised profusely to it and hubby said it needed air (I thought he meant the kiss of life at first) so placed it gently outside an hour later it was gone.
Cetti I think I might have been freaked out by that too! We've all been startled by some monster I'm sure & then realised it was harmless. At least I can stop imagining a shredded frog or worse. I came so close to mowing over one once - I'd have been mortified.
smudge that's not life size!! (I hope)
I have been bombarded by bees today.I think because it's turned cooler they are looking for somewhere warm. They bumble in the back door and then bumble round the sunroom and get stuck up in the window .I can't reach the window so have to get a broom and open the handle and push the window up so they can bumble out again.Daft things!!
Well, Cetti, I was expecting a lot worse. We get lots of those crickets and they always make me jump. At least your cricket survived his ordeal.
However, the worse thing is the occasional bat in our bedroom! They are beautiful creatures and I should hate to harm one, but they freak me out when they come indoors.
