I am abslutely terrified of them - then if they are outside - dog barks horrendously at them. They hide underneath the shed and other neighbour's decking. not good animals in my 0pinion - sorrry
Send them over to me Conn, they're my favourite. They live under my hedge and in the log and twig pile which i built as a haven for them. Why. Because they eat up all my slugs!
I wish I had a whole load of them in my garden. Send them ALL to me. I LOVE them. They do no harm whatsoever and they do nothing but good. They are lovely creatures.
I have two hedgehogs that have lived in my garden for the last ten years. Obviously not the same ones, they don't live that long, but there is always two. I don't get bothered by slugs and snails though. I do put food out for them and they are used to me being there and will come up to me. they are beautiful little creatures!
They are soooo cute, just look at their faces and they need lots of help from us. I can't knock you for being irrationally scared though, I'm terrified of spiders and lots of ABers can't understand that either.
i wish we had loads of heggies. unfortunately i have not seen signs of any. they could be so happy here as we have mosre slugs than i ever knew existed. i would even provide them with des res.
I share the others curiousity as to why they terrify you, but what I'm really baffled by is you describing them as 'not good animals', why do you say that?
I actively encourage them into my garden and put food out for them each night.
Conne, what frightens you? They do no harm, and they certainly don't pose a threat to humans. They eat slugs and other things which spoil our gardens. OK they can look a bit scary but they're not dangerous. Dogs do bark at them, mostly because they don't know what to do with them, dogs know they are prickly!
Have to agree they are lovely little animals, you don't have to touch them so why terrified, they are mostly wary of humans anyway and rarely come near you. Good for the garden and should be looked after I feel.
