if another dog...that does not like dogs on leads...lunges/snaps at my dog because she's on lead?
Well...it seems to be according to the other dogs owners. I should 'walk away' so their little darling does not go after mine,because they see no reason why their dog should be on lead as she's never bitten another dog...and if I don't like it,I should f***ing take my dogs lead off.
Am I doing something wrong?...answers on a post card,please.

There is a school of thought that says that you should let both the dogs off the lead and then there will be no problem ...

... I personally think that this is what is technically known as "a load of bollocks".


If my dog is securely restrained on a lead, then it behoves the other person to control their dog properly to avoid an incident - whether their dog is on a lead or not.

No you aren't doing anything wrong,in fact by keeping your dog on the lead you are acting as a responsible owner.I used to walk Max off the lead but If I saw anybody approaching with or without a dog I would put Max on the lead unless I knew the people well you know how your own dog acts but you don't know how others will behave.

Phew!!!...so good to know I am not alone. I asked...then shouted...that their dog should be on a lead. This was after commenting that this particular animal always 'goes for' Sally if she's on her lead...this has happened over several years. Dog was particularly aggressive this evening.

Sally is the gentlest dog you could ever meet...I think she's shocked when other dogs get happy...or worse like this little brute.

not doing anything wrong, personally some dogs off the lead scare the bejesus out of me. One woman who i don't think is local, walks her dog off the lead, the dog is humongous, think rottweiler crossed with bull mastiff, it may be a nice kind dog, but it's growl, bark would have most people running for cover.

The husband told me to walk away...a bit difficult when your dog is dancing on her lead,trying not to get her bum nipped…....

There's some people around here with bug dogs that are never on leads - I always make a big drama about crossing the road to avoid them.

I always use a heavy walking cane and in your situation I'd be incline to use it,probably on the owner who obviously cant be bothered to train his dog properly.What kind of dog is it?

I only let sally off in certain parts of the park...partly because she's ambled out few times...and her amble is a lot faster than my trot....;-)I also know other dogs are not as friendly as she is.

The other dog is some sort of mutt...maybe a bit of spaniel plus whatever. Sally's a lurcher,and could give the little horror a good run...

I used to have the psycho dog from he'll and kept him on the lead at all times. We went to the park when it was not busy and avoided all other dogs - apart from a couple who were laid back and calm with him.

I felt that it was best to avoid trouble.

I hope Sally isn't freaked out by this dog. Some dogs are very friendly and come bounding up to greet other dogs, it must be terrifying for a nervous dog to see a big bounding brute charge towards them.
