Thanks NoM - the hardest part was the days before of seeing him go downhill so quickly and agonising over it. I walked out of the vets upset but with a slight sense of inner peace that we'd done the right thing and he was suffering no more.

Doesn't get any easier no matter how many times you have to do it, but the sense of relief that they are not suffering makes it more bearable. Remember the good times and smile when you think of him.
