One day hailed as saviour of the system..
the next day cursed as Establishment figure not suitable to whitewash Establishment as a result of previous whitewashes.

First time I have seen a judge being criticised as unsuitable as he/she was awful the first time round.

Even Lord Mersey ( 1913 ) who did the Titanic inquiry - he didnt understand numbers so wouldnt stand any of this "thirty-five north crap" - no one said at the time - useless quite useless...... did they ?

The way I understand it from the lunchtime news, it's not her capability in question, it's that the content could be a bit too close to home for her to be impartial. Or so I understand.

Are the likely candidates are probably Oxbridge, have much the same background, and are very much part of the establishment. Isn't it possible to look abroad, to the ECHR, perhaps, and appoint someone from there to chair the enquiry?

Just where we are supposed to get an experienced Judge from to Chair this enquiry, without sorting through "The Establishment" is quite beyond me.
What are we supposed to do....snatch someone off the street at random ?

Let the poor woman have a go before criticising her...she made a competent job of the Cleveland Enquiry. At least we are now seeing some movement on this very serious issue, due almost entirely to Tom Watson and Simon Danczuk.

Well, for a start, Mikey, we might just about be able to find one who isn't a sibling of the man who was Attorney-General in the 1980s! That's the very sort of establishment person and the very period supposedly under investigation.

Apparently, she condicted an inquiry into the churches conduct in relation to two paedaphile priests in Colchester. Six months after her report was published, an addendum had to be issued which admitted she took the churches word for events without checking whick meant the report was full of factual errors.
For this inquiry to be effective, it needs someone who will not just take the word of establishment figures. It needs someone prepared to dig deeper.

That couple with the conflict of interest that she will be investigating her own brother, means they need to find someone else.
