Pregnancy in cats
2 Answers
I am fostering a cat with 5 kittens that are 3 weeks old. Until today they have been living in a flat that is being renovated by the company I work for and the builders have been looking after them. The mother cat isn't very old and she is very thin, apart from a large round stomach. Is this normal or should I be worried that she may be pregnant again?

She can be treated but you've got to get the correct stuff for a nursing mum. She needs to eat loads while she's feeding the kittens, they always look pretty ropey while they are taking care of the babies & it'll take a while before she loses that skinny look...but she shouldn't have an out of proportion tum. If it doesn't fix itself after worming then there are many other more serious things that it could be & she'd need to see a Vet.
The kits need an appropriate wormer too, if she's got worms then they will have aswell.
