Homosexuality Leaflets Arrest
22 Answers
Didn't know whether to post this in law or religion, so did the obvious...and put it in chatterbank!
Story from my local paper. A man has been arrested after posting anti gay leaflets through peoples doors. The leaflets are of a religious nature stating that homosexuality is a sin and unnatural.
The question is why would the police arrest this man when Ive had Watchtower and other religious magazines/pamphlets given to me that state the same thing.
Also various religions also teach against homosexuality without anyone been arrested. http:// www.sto kesenti nel.co. uk/Man- 53-arre sted-di stribut ion-ant i-gay-l eaflets /story- 2290739 1-detai l/story .html

Scrivens //If he's printed an homophobic text from a bible, they'd have to arrest everyone religious// Seems to be at odds with joms post //if he had posted anti gay quotes from the bible and the koran then that would be serious//
As regards rear ending in the prison showers, wouldnt that be poetic justice whatever his religious persusion?

It may have depended on what was written. When you post leaflets condemning a particular group then one can see it may well be illegal. Possibly one of those cases where one person's right to do something conflicts with another's not to be victimised and authority has to decide which takes priority in that particular case.
// Because religion is deemed to be beyond criticism. Jom is right. //
I am not sure if defences to baby murder or drug taking - my religion makes me do it would work.
works in amerikee for cannabis and certain Jamaican sects but
I thinnk religion is not in these more extreme circumstances deemed beyond the law .... just a thought

Doesn't this come down to whether the leafleting is deemed to be "incendiary" or not ? I have tried to read the wording on the link and its not easy to decipher. But it doesn't look to be spreading sedition. As I said, best ignored, along with all the others religious butters that we have on our street.
By the way, I was approached by two charmingly polite and smiley young American chaps yesterday, in a suburban street, campaigning for the Church of Latter Day Saints. I say young men but they both looked no more than 14 to me, barely out of Cub Scouts. When I politely declined their offer, they politely went on their way. They looked awfully sweaty though, in their Bry-Nylon white shirts, as it was at least 25 degrees in Swansea yesterday. I think Mormons must be the only people left who wear Bry-Nylon.
If only all religious nutters were as obliging and polite !
