Squirrel Proofing Bird Feeders

I expect many bird lovers like to watch their favourite garden birds without the constant view of squirrels & pigeons eating everything in sight.
I have tried lots of ways to deter these but maybe have come up with cheap alternative to those expensive clear squirrel proof baffles.
I have a pole with various hanging food sections & seen the squirrels climb up pole so I've inserted 2 plastic plant pots upside down underneath the feeding area. Decided to not put any flat plate like feeders as they just sit on them!
Have also thought I might attach a brolly to the whole thing.
Any other ideas are always welcome.

Why not let the squirrels have a share? They're lovely creatures and I wish I'd a few visiting my garden.

My Mum has a lovely garden and there's enough for everyone and we all love watching the resident squirrel burying nuts all over the place and patting the soil down, so cute.
