I have always said I would go for a female dog but on considering am realising if you do get one from a rescue home they have been bred a number of times even if one and bless them - think they are a bit traumatised coming from an illegal breeder.
Anyway another dog has stolen my heart - a male but he is 18 months - at the mo he is being fostered and has been described as nervous and frightened etc - do you think I can do it.
Because my friends are saying this and that - it is making me nervous.
Thanx for the link Bc .Bentley looks adorable and I can see why you would want him jj,the only thing I would really consider is,you said your pet would have to be on their own on a regular basis, would this make it too difficult in trying to not get the wee dog too stressed?
There are so many different reasons why the dog found itself in the doggy orphanage. She may be overwhelmed by being in the rescue place and this will be make her more nervous.
You might go along to visit her Conne and not like each other or you both might fall in love and be ideal for each other.
The first step is to make an appointment to see him. I think you'll know from that visit, whether this little dog is for you or not. Pick up the phone - you know you want to!
Conne - I am not fond of smaller dogs but this little one is cute.
It is an exciting and terrifying time - I remember all three of my adoptions clearly. None of them started well but after a day or so it all works out.
I am nervous because I live on my own and worry if I take sick who would look after him - he would need to go to kennels and I know Mr Harv didn't like them but what could I do.
Personally I would go for a mongrel in this situation but the dogs of this breed we have looked after have been fine. One way of overcoming the falling sick problem is to walk your dog with other owners who might step in if necessary. Our little circle will always back up as needed.
