Whats the deal with feces in prawns?

can anyone tell me if it is true the prawns still have feces inside them when they are sold because they are so small they can't scoop it out or is this just a myth...i think it's true..they are pink evil!!!

If you look at a prawn down the back of the curve, it has a groove. This is where the digestive tract sits. When prawns are peeled mechanically, this gets removed, when you peel them yourself, you need to remove it. I believe that farmed shellfish are also processed before being cooked to ensure that they are, so to speak, empty.

Yes it's true, woofgang is correct about the farmed prwans but you will see a lot of what you're talking about abroad so you have to remove it yourself. It's not going to kill you to eat it anyway, afterall, I am led to believe that we eat 7 spiders in our lifetime during our sleeping hours!

thanks ppl.....never been a fan tho, i just like to taunt my girlfriend about eating pooh, lol...and i heard it was 8 spiders... ah well, one is too many...there should be a big room somewhere filled with prawns and spiders..
