Here's the deal - who would like an extremely handsome, large, very long coated black and white male border collie (lots and lots of white) he is an excellent house dog, very obedient and loving. Am looking for small, very, very short coated (prefereably bald) dog in return. This swop dog must not, however, take delight in rolling in newly pig manured fields especially after several days of heavy rain. This swop dog must also refrain from returning immediately to me when recalled (although this is a good thing), with a stupid grin on it's face suggesting' That was great....look I'll do it again for you' then immediately repeat the exercise (not a good thing).
Yet I love him dearly.

Awww...I'll swap him for a rosary keyring or a gammy cat...you chose :-)
mine's the same, why do they do it? especially when they hate baths with a passion
Question Author
thanks ummmm will consider your generous offer but now he's looking all pristine and fluffy white and glossy black I'm having second thoughts :-)
Question Author
your guess is as good as mine aelmpvw - something to do with concealing their scent I suppose - although his scent on a bad day is very much better than pig manure and mud.
I saw // rsvp Swopping (sic) my Dog \\ and nearly had a heart attack. No, I thought, not rsvp of all people. Phew, what a relief.
Rsvp I am sure you would never part with him really ...
And I complained when Zac got his paws muddy tonight. Sheesh. Little devils ain't they!

ladybirder thank you for the vote of confidence! would never part with him, he's such a big part of my life and smurfchops ...you are so right, he's with me for life.
Zacsmaster - a little devil isn't what I called him I promise you...trouble was he looked so pleased with himself.
Swopping is correct spelling.
Thanks OG, I see you can spell it swap or swop. I thought swop was for Sex Workers Outreach Project (Australia).
Sorry rsvp. I live and learn.
Question Author
so do I ladybirder! have never heard of the Aussie connection to that spelling of the word - but then why would I really? stay well and no apology necessary but thank you all the same.
I now that grin well rsvp.Max a long haired GSD,was though I say it myself normaly very well behaved untill he came across a mud hole when he'd stand in the middle of it give me that "I know I shouldn't but I'm going to do it " and promptly rolling about in it till he looked like a mud monster after which he'd come galloping back and to share his mud with Trish and I.

The mud part of Mac's new coat I could handle Paddywak, it was the pig munure bit I wasn't happy with. But we love um all the same don't we?
We do,rsvp I'd get another tomorrow if I could excercise one properly. They don't need much, just food and affection but they give us so much back.
Question Author
sorry.....manure!!! definitely a senior moment.
Question Author
That's so true Paddywak. :-)
paddy would you not consider an old dog that would dearly love for its last few months/year/s to be in a loving home rather than in a rescue centre, especially in the winter? One that can't manage much exercise any more and would be happy with am amble around the garden? Or you could try fostering if you don't want to commit, perhaps an Oldie for a few weeks and see how you go? That would be so lovely for you and the dog.

We thought about it lady, but these days I have a job excercising myself let alone a dog but the main thing is I don't think either of us could face bonding with another dog,it doesn't take long, then losing him/her.
I'm glad you thought about it paddy. x
Try having two leonbergers, they LOVE mud!!! but I love them dearly x
