The French had worse recently, so I presume you sent them something trt?
one good turn doesnt deserve another it seems.
We give billions worldwide in aid but I never see any news headlines to say that WE have recieved any aid when needed.
have we asked for aid?

Already over 1/3 way to the target in under 2 days so it looks like the money is rolling in!
yeah - bags of rice from Vietnam and unused or even used tents from Jordan ( around 25% of the population are syrian refugees )
yeah and Kalashnikovs from I dont know where - Syria perhaps to shoot looter as that is now a problem in some areas

We to hope that those affected are adequately covered by insurance and the insurance companies deal with the situation promptly and effectively.
Also the council has a role to play in providing immediate help.

There has been a call for people who own second homes in these areas allow those in need to take shelter in the empty properties in the short term.

Clearing storm drains would help. Ours were cleared annually but not been done for the last 10+yrs.
Jeremy Vine, on his radio show, is talking to some of the fabulous people who are bending over backwards to help these unfortunate people.
£50 million compensation fund set up by the government, plus council tax and business rates rebates. Facebook donations alone of over £1 million. They are not going to be short of cash.
Whenever there is drought or famine or an earthquake or a tsunami in a faraway country, I see oxfam asking for donations via a large placard in their shop windows. Are Oxfam helping our own in their hour of need?
