My Employer Has Asked Me For A Sick Note After Only 1 Sick Day
I called in sick for 1 day and my manager has demanded i need a doctors note which is impossible to get as the law states you only can receive a note when you are off work for 7 days. I stated this in an email and my manager accused me of being very rude and said that she was confused as to what point I was trying to make.To cut a long story short, she also criticized my work performance which has nothing to do with me calling in sick and accused to me of having no regard for other staff members.
Does anyone have any legal advice of who i would report this to. would i speak to a tribunal about this?

I am also confused as to the point you are trying to make. The "law" does not state you cannot get a fitness note when you are off work for less than 7 days. It states you must provide said note if you are off work for 7 days - not the same thing. You can get a fitness note after one day but you'd have to pay for it.
Given you've decided to leave, and apparently resigned, unless you are claiming constructive dismissal, ACAS will not be interested.

along with everyone else, i am a but puzzled. 1) ifyou hve left, why do you care 2)i don't think it's true tht you cn only get a sick note after 7 days. If they are performance managing you for (for example) having a lot of time off, it sounds reasonble ish to ask for a sick note (although the logistics seem quite difficult!)
3) i don't understand what you mean by "report this to" - like who? your mnger doesn't sound like they went bout things in an entirely professional wy, but TBH neither do you.
If you have left because they asked you for a sick note tht you refused to provide, i can't see how you'd have any sort of cse for a tribunl (although dmittedly we only know one side of the story)

Let's start with the basics: what's the illness?
If it's really serious the doctor will certificate you as of now.
If it's a bad cold, you can self-certificate (ask at your GPs)
So that's what your empployer wants, and whether you like each other orr not, that's their entitlement. And you're entitled to be ill and off work - but as others have said, you have no automatic right to workplace security unless you have completed your employer's minimum trial period.
A tribunal won't touch the case, and before going down that route you need a dossier of evidence and witnesses who are prepared to back you up.
Fair or not, if you don't have the evidence and witnesses, walk away or put up with it.

Sick notes are a requirement of your employer as part of their conditions of employment. There is no law about sick notes that can over rule what your employer requires.
For the first few days you have off work on sickness, you can sign a Self Certification form detailing your illness and your employer will accept it. However after 3 days, your employer is correct in wanting a signed sick note from your doctor to prove you are genuinely ill.

The employer will not accept a self cert, he has asked for a doctor's sick note which will have to be paid for. It is usual for the employer to reimburse the cost.
