Common Name: Uromastyx or Moroccan Spiny-Tailed Lizard

Scientific Name: Uromastyx acanthinurus

Where it Lives: The Sahara desert, and also in Egypt. The lizards like a hot, dry climate with an absolute minimal temperature of 19 �F (when they hibernate) and a maximum of 140 �F.

What it Eats: The Uromastyx acanthinurus are for the most part herbivores, although they do sometimes feed on insects such s crickets or mealworms.

Interesting Facts: This lizard is said to be one of the most beautiful in the world; in natural habitat its colours range from green, red, yellow, pink and orange. The sides of the animal are usually blue/black with bursts of red and orange. However, these lizards usually only gain these colours in their adulthood. (With thanks to The Vilanova Living Lab)
