Kitten Flu
11 Answers
My ten week kitten which came from a refuge, has not eaten for two days. Is there anything I can do apart from a visit to a vet, which I can ill afford. Will bring him first thing Monday morning if no improvement, but in the meantime has anyone any advice?
Thank you all in advance

If you just mean it's unwell and off food then I'd agree tempt it with anything but being brutal 2 days without food for such a baby is very serious and needs a vet. If you can't afford it try the PDSA. It's not fair to let it suffer because of money.

I'd be a little suspicious of a refuge who let you take a kitten you couldn't afford to care for so don't hold out much hope that they will be much help. What are the symptoms the kitten has and why are you saying it's 'kitten flu'? Is it sneezing, runny nose, sore eyes, listlessness and off food etc - two days without food for such a young animal is very, very serious and it will be seriously dehydrated - if no PDSA then you will just have to stick hand in pocket and go to a vet - if you explain before any treatment that you are unable to pay the account straight away you may be allowed to pay it off - but make this very clear at the onset.
I'm sorry, but maybe you shouldn't have taken on a kitten if you can't afford vet bills. Even if you're lucky and the kitten isn't too poorly and recovers from this and has no more illness, it will need vaccinations every year. The refuge should surely have given the kitten vaccinations against cat flu, if not I don't think it's that reputable. Also has the kitten been spayed/ neutered? I do hope the kitten hasn't got cat flu but I think there would be lots of other symptoms such as sneezing and runny eyes. Please see a vet.
