Posh name for a mongrel.crossbred cocker spaniel/poodle.Nice dogs though, when I had Max we used to meet a couple every now and then they looked good, had nice temperments and were well behaved
My friend has a cockapoo and she says herself that her coat doesn't moult - which is a bonus for sure. The dog herself is the most loving dog, she loves being petted, she good with other dogs and lovely with people and great with kids too. I found her slightly nervous when she first met me but she will come straight over to me whenever she sees me now - it didn't take her long to get use to me.
I would say get one if thats what you're thinking about. There are so many lovable dogs out there with plenty of love and friendship
Pro's - Hypoallergenic, really sweet and love to please their owners, great with kids
Con's - Bags of energy (could be a pro or a con), "woof's" a hell of a lot when excited, my in laws had to make quite a big investment of time to train him However, once trained he is very obedient.
rsvp... :)
It's the type of dog we're looking at getting come the new year, seems to fit all our requirements as responsible dog owners.
I know there are loads of rescue dogs but we have very specific requirements and needs, for various reasons, and these cockapoos seem to fit the bill. We're really looking forward to welcoming this newest addition, just what we need to bring us some joy and happiness.
Thanks.
My son has one and we look after him when they go on holiday. Nice little dog and very affectionate, but my sons dog is VERY greedy. Follows you around the house begging for food, when you put his food down he wolfs it down in a few seconds. I have never seen a dog that can eat so fast! The second he finishes he is racing round looking for more. It is probably just my son's dog that is so greedy rather than a characteristic of the breed.
We had a golden retriever who died sixteen years ago, so know all about greedy dogs, she would have eaten until she burst I'm sure, and we had to be very strict with her for her own good.
I can't tell you how much we're both looking forward to having a dog in our lives again, I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions about coping with a pup when we get him/her.
Thank you for all your replies x
Just to add a 'con' in the mix, they will need clipping regularly which is quite expensive I think.
When I had my Westie, we has her done every few months at £30 but that was a few years back so don't know what it would be now. Well worth it but just something to bear in mind.
