Just after looking at the back there and as usual Maxie had left some dinner - the back neighbour's cat was eating away at it.

Is that unusual.

Cats will eat anything. I have one that will eat curry, pasta, rice etc. Of course the fussy sod will not eat the cat food I buy.

I was in Tesco on Monday looking for the packs of Felix that are all one flavour.

I couldn't see them and asked a guy for help. He said that they didn't have them but then he pointed to the mountain of boxes of Felix on the shelves and said that it was all the same and the cat would never know.

I just turned to him and said - I guess that you don't have a cat. He didn't.

Cats will eat what they want to eat and life is too short to persuade (purrsuade ?) them otherwise.

Ladybirder - because Maxie eats or rather nibbles through the day and evening - it is out and in but brought in for the night. Sometimes he finishes it or not.

Ugh I bet the flies have a good feed as well jj. Doesn't sound very hygienic. Vet advice is to feed dogs morning and evening and to put food down for half an hour and if not eaten remove it and throw it away, especially if it is wet food. And that is assuming the food is kept inside the house. I don't think I would throw it away if it was hard food though. If they eat twice a day you get to know when they will need to go out to do their business as a pattern will form. Makes life easier for you. Better than if they are grazing all day. My dog eats his food so quickly there's no chance of any other creature getting a look in and if a fly came near the dish he'd eat that as well. Just a bit of unasked for advice jj, sorry, I can't help myself:-)

Thanks for that Ladybirder - well I had Harvey down to a fine art - he ate every day at 2pm.

This wee dog has a mind and a body of his own. To be honest - I start off with the best - the wet and dried with a little chicken. He wolfs the chicken and wet down but leaves the dried until he "feels" like it. More often than not the dried food is left.
