Huge Wasp/hornet

I have just spent 10 minutes locked in the bathroom after being terrorised by a huge wasp or hornet. (It flew in, round my head and then flew out with me slamming the door behind it. Then I could hear it buzzing menacingly outside the bathroom until it went quiet).

So now I have a large angry buzzy thing. In the house. Somewhere.

There is no conceivable way I will be able to sleep knowing this thing is about. Any ideas how I might find it/catch it/remove it. Trouble is, it has obviously landed somewhere so I cant hear it atm.

Thanks DB. I didnt notice the colour - I didnt have the light on and the main bathroom is badly lit. But it was HUGE. Nearly as big as my little finger.

Loving the idea (not) that it wants to hibernate - particularly since I have nearly every cupboard and wardrobe open in this house swapping the summer stuff for the winter stuff. Plus several piles of washing everywhere.

As for spiders I am sure there are loads in this house judging by the cobwebs. It would have to be one huge flaming spider though. Another cheery thought. The two things that I am inexplicably terrified of.

I shall just make sure that everything I pick up, I pick up gently with two fingers and shake well. I imagine being grabbed in a pile of laundry might upset it.
Could leaving something sweet out with a really strong sweet smell help attract it (if anything like a wasp!) like coca cola? See if it draws it out.
I think it will probably die, quite quickly.
