Bernard Cribbins Genius
13 Answers
I watched 'Old Jacks Boat' on CBeebies this week with a 5 year old, and was amazed to see Bernard Cribbins still working, and being terrific.
Then I was reminded that Cribbins used to do the 'Wombles' when I was a kid, so I looked at his Wikipedia page.

What a great career he has had. We usually wait until someone has died before we say how great they are. Well Why not join me in applauding Bernard while he is still with us.
Thank you Bernard Cribbins.

I've always liked him, even his songs :) He was a great guest on I Have I Got News For You and he and Paul Merton really hit it off.
A much loved man, I think.

I remember doing my National Service at Beaumont Barracks in Aldershot, and in 1959 Bernard Cribbins, along with Peter Sellers and Wilfrid Hyde White came to our barracks to film scenes for 'Two Way Stretch'. I remember him as a quiet man, sitting calmly between filming, while all us squaddies surrounding Peter Sellers for autographs. I think at that time, Bernard was not as well known as the star of the film. Now, in his 89th year, I agree with Gromit in saying what a great man he is.
