Cat Allergy
5 Answers
Not sure if this is the right place but it seems as good as any! My partner is mega allergic to cats. After just half an hour in a catowners house he finds it difficult to breathe and then suffers for two days or so, struggling and gasping for breath during his sleep as if someone is pushing down on his chest. The simple solution would obviously be to stay away from them but unfortunately my mum has two cats and it is therefore proving a rather difficult problem (no mother-in-law jokes please)!
He has tried a few over the counter things but to no avail and I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations as to what we could look into. I don't want him downing all sorts trying to find a remedy that works but if anyone has any ideas that seem to work really well for this problem, please let me know. Many thanks

I know it's bad to put him in that situation which is why we don't go there and I'm asking this. Naturally of course it is a difficult situation in that, for example, this Christmas is the one we spend with my mum and instead of going to her house we are doing Christmas in our small flat with the family coming round. As I said, I don't want to put him in danger at all and if there is nothing we can do, there's nothing we can do but I don't want to just accept that there isn't without looking into it. The normal hayfever allergy antihistamines do nothing.
Okay I will again give this great website URL for you to check out, http://www.catsinternational.org/ when you go there click on "articles" then click on "fun and useful info", check out what they say about allergies, they talk about allergens and ways to minimize it. I have been giving out this website on here for a while now, it is very informative, if I keep doing this maybe someone else will beat me to it one day and when I get on here I will see it.. and say "Eureka, I think they've got it!" but remember "drgnrdr" typed it first...LOL Good luck with it, hope this helps.
