I would like to give a small dog a good home, but being part disabled, I wouldn't be able to take it for walks, so would there be dogs needing a home that dont require exercise, I have a garden? Thanks.
yes there are dogs who don’t need much exercise and dogs who dislike “socialisation” Can I suggest that you talk to local rescues and maybe also to national ones who have local branches? There are often older dogs who just want a comfortable home and a loving owner.
Yes of course there are dogs that are disabled or elderly that don't need to be taken for walks and some charities actively seek out elderly or disabled clients who are likely to be in all day to rehome them with, and there are groups like 'Borrow my doggie' who will borrow your dog for walks days out etc as well. Contact your local dog re-homing groups, it's just a case of finding a suitable match.
Maybe a retired greyhound? Contrary to popular belief, they do not need loads of exercise. One good run a day...if you can hire someone to do that...would be fine. Other than that, they are lovely, gentle couch potatoes.
Not all dogs need exercise, especially those who are getting on in years and perhaps a bit rickety. (I had three old crocks who lived happily for several years with just the garden to snuffle about in). Why don't you ask at your local rehoming centre? They would be able to tell you if they have a dog you could care for. They're likely to be very grateful for the enquiry. Good luck.
