Tone of voice and repetition of word sound.

We have kept Dogs for years, usually 2 together, they certainly respond to 'Key' words but in different situations Tone of Voice can be effective as well, the Dog Whisperer is not a favourite in this house.
Nor in this house Baldric!
I trained my dogs with hand signals.
I do not like the dog whisperer ....
Question Author
why would people disagree with the dog whisperers methods
danny
When I trained for field trials it was necessary to use both voice and hand signals but for someone just wanting an obedient dog the voice control is perhaps better as the dog may not always be watching you
I don't know as I have never seen a dog whisperer at work.
He's mean and rough and bullies the dogs
Islay, is he a dog 'whisperer' or a dog trainer?

Sneaky little back heel kicks into the ribcage, Spiked Collars, spikes on the inside, Shock Collars, the Man is a Bully imo.
I'd forgotten about those collars - they are illegal here but I am amazed at how many people use them in the USA
Have you two had experience of he same man?
He might get away with it America, if anyone practised his barbaric methods here he would be reported to the RSPCA(I would hope)
He's a brute !
He's also been bitten countless times so hardly getting a result from all his nasty bullying tactics. Who wants their dog scared and beaten into submission? His method of 'training' went out years ago.

My Wife recently bought a Collar from Amazon as Bruno is a bit of a hooligan, not dangerous, just a pest who wants to meet everyone and their Dogs. When I read the details what she thought was a collar that released a strong smell, it was a Collar that gave an Electric Shock, it went under the Hammer at that moment, my Dogs are better than that.
Patience and "reward" will always result in a better behaved dog than temper and punishment. Good Man Baldric.
