Does anybody know where I might find the poem/verse that I believe was entitled "Ours is a funny language, ours is" ?
This was published in what I think was a children's annual about 30 years ago and was on the subject of the vagaries of the English language. Part of it goes something like "if the plural of goose is geese then why isn't the plural of moose, meese? And if the plural of mouse is mice, why isn't the plural of house, hice?"
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.
