My elderly cat has quite long hair and is quite difficult to comb. It seems to get matted.it also feels like it should be cleaned in some way but of course they hate any water. Any hints anyone?

My year old lady cat hates being groomed, she has long hair that matts and teeth that bite far to readily. I usually tease as much as I can when she is being petted. It works but her coat is not in shiny great condition.

Not all cats dislike water and, if you think that you will survive the experience, give it a try. I am not sure if it will work.

Don't use a comb, they pull the fur. Use a brush and a grooming solution.
