Here's a question for the non-religious (the religious already have their answer though I doubt they have thought about the implications that much)
If you could become immortal on the condition you would NEVER be able to die or kill yourself, would you choose immortality?

Would it contain the ability to stay young and fit? If not, no. Then again, no anyway.
Let me first of all check if I get to be healthy and mobile for eternity or will I eventually be Stephen Hawking till the sun explodes?
...also what happens when my money runs out? Is there a salary for immortality?
Question Author
Well most religious folk ive spoken to seem to think that they will stay young (how young is never specified) Fit (how fit is never specified) and healthy (how healthy is never specified) and will spend eternity in some kind of paradise (how they will eat, sleep, have sex, enjoy themselves etc is never specified)
Most people I have spoken to don't see Immortality in such corporeal terms at all.
Question Author
The thought that I would NEVER have that *choice* to cease to exist, if I so choose, would be hell, not heaven.
Question Author
in what terms DO they see it Mamya?
well, that's what immortality has to mean, nailit: if your life could end, you wouldn't be immortal.

I imagine you'd be pretty wrinkly around the 150 mark (or the 50 mark in my case).
I can't speak for others, each may have their own view - but youth.sex, food etc won't feature I'm sure.
Question Author
That's what the question is about tho jno, would you choose it if you really knew what it meant?
(51 in my case, wrinkles, creases, bulges where you don't want them...)
Question Author
No food? No youth? And no SEX???
Put me down for a no then Mamya!
I have already chosen immortality ... if only there was some kind of God that could make my choice become a reality. :0/
Immortality is incomprehensible to me. I know what it means literally but I have no understanding of what it means in reality.
You may be confusing the idea of a spiritual immortality which is a mindset with a living forever reality which would be awful.
I believe that I am a little speck of something which appears in a different form each time it randomly appears. I have been around for many years, as a speck.
Question Author
elucidate the difference for me Mamya,...
Question Author
Tills, I suppose atomically speaking, you've been around since the big bang, we all have!
One is what some may imagine to be what happens after their time on earth ends.

The other is simply what living forever would be, awful.

That's a perfect viewpoint Tilly.
